In "of Mice and Men", Lennie and George both face different obstacles. Although they went through different obstacles, both had to overcome or deal with them. In the Ted Talk Amy Purdy starts off by telling us her story. She was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis and lost her kidney, spleen, and half of her legs. She lived, but she has had to live a complicated life since. Just as Lennie has had to struggle with his actions and speech not being normal for his age. Lennie still had to work, despite his mental disabilities. Just as Amy had to keep traveling the world and snowboard, despite her new disabilities. Amy was "absouletely physically and emotionally broken", but she kept moving forward and let go of the past. She looked towards the positives in life such as, being able to change her shoe size to fit shoes on the sale rack and changing her height, by changing her prostetic legs. I beleive George could learn alot from Amy because whenever he is faced with an obstacle he gets angry or lets it get him down. For example, In George and Lennies quest for work, George often got mad at Lennie and handled many situations poorly. Whereas Amy shows the importance in looking at the brighter side when obstacles are thrown in your direction.
